Paint knowledge Water-based wood paint FAQ
1. Q: What is water-based wood paint?
A: Water-based wood paint uses water as a diluent, does not contain organic solvents, is non-flammable and non-explosive, and is brushed or sprayed on the surface of wood products instead of solvent-based paint components to protect and decorate wood.
2. Q: What are the characteristics of water-based wood paint furniture?
A: Water-based wood paint is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, does not contain formaldehyde, xylene, free TDI, VOC and other harmful substances, and the paint film has or is close to the general characteristics and surface effects of volumetric paint oil.
3. Q: What is toxic about solvent-based paint (paint)? What are the hazards to the human body?
A: In the process of construction, a large amount of diluent is inevitably used for general solvent-based (paint), and the diluent contains harmful solvents such as benzene, formaldehyde, xylene and its derivatives, which can accumulate in the human body and cause respiratory and liver diseases. It may also cause leukemia: free TDI (toluene diisocyanamide) in the curing agent can cause lesions in the respiratory and reproductive systems. Even long-term low-dose exposure to these harmful substances can lead to various cases such as leukemia, male and female infertility, cancer, and even death.
4. Q: Why does water-based wood paint not turn white wall latex paint yellow during construction?
A: During the construction of solvent-based polyester paint, the volatilized free TDI monomer reacts with certain chemicals in the latex paint to produce colored substances, which will turn the latex paint yellow. Water-based wood paint only volatilizes water, without free TDI, so it will not turn the latex paint yellow.
5. Q: Why can't the construction temperature be lower than 5?
A: The film formation and drying of water-based wood paint requires the evaporation of water. If the temperature is lower than 5, the water evaporates too slowly, causing the paint film to be dry and white. If the temperature is lower than 0, the paint film may also freeze and crack.
6. Q: Can water-based wood paint be waxed?
A: It can be waxed, but since the drying of water-based wood paint is closely related to temperature and humidity, it is recommended to wax it 24 hours after the completion of construction.
7. Q: Can the paint film of water-based wood paint be water-coated?
A: It can be water-sanded. The paint film of water-based wood paint can be opened and sanded with sandpaper or water-sanded, but attention should be paid to the dryness of the paint film when sanding. If the paint film is not completely dry, it is very easy to remove the entire layer of the paint film or turn white.
8. Q: How long after the water-based wood paint is applied should the sticker be protected?
A: The sticker protection mainly depends on the dryness of the paint film. Generally, the sticker can be applied 12 hours after the surface is dry, but when tearing off the sticker, special attention should be paid to whether the paint film is completely dry. If the paint film is not fully dry, it is very easy to tear off the entire piece. The correct method is to use a blade to cut the edge of the sticker before tearing off the sticker.
